Caravan or Lodge?
Often the difference between the two is just the material used to clad the accommodation. However, that’s a bit unfair on lodges as some lodges are more like log cabins and offer a similar style of holiday to a self-catering holiday cottage.
So, there are probably two types of lodges to consider.
Single plot lodges
These are log cabin structures built with a similar standard of accommodation to a brick built home. These will be often a similar price to renting a cottage and will often be in great locations.
Lodge parks
These are a hybrid between a caravan park and an exclusive estate of a few lodges. The type of lodge will vary a lot from a log clad caravan to a log cabin similar to a cottage. These can be very well furnished and have luxuries such as a hot tub or sauna. In some cases they are built around a lake which can offer great views and fantastic fishing opportunities.
Lodge Caravans
These are practically the same as a static caravan except that they are clad with wood and usually the wheels are covered over. Often these are available on a holiday park alongside holiday caravans. Generally, these will be a similar price to a caravan rental. So, there are probably two types of lodges to consider.
